Best Works

Life Drawing has always been my favorite drawing class. Studying the human form is something I find very interesting, and in my time in life drawing 1 & 2 i've studied the muscle systems and skeletal system. I find that learning these two things, especially the skeleton this semester, really helps you get a sense of correct proportions and locations of joints and such on the body. My strongest works this semester had to be the 2 giant skeleton drawings, the self portraits and then the final 2 day pose. These were my most complete, detailed drawings that showcase my ability to comprehend the muscle and bone structures and how they relate to our outside appearance. This semester also helped me develop a great understanding of shading to create depth. I liked the emphasis on the side planes being shaded in our skeleton drawings. It really helped to further drive home the point that every 3D object has multiple sides.

our critique

On chris’, the head looks like metroid. Change his major. Last statement retracted. Ribcage looks a little small. Spine a little bit too long. Dark outline, shading needed on the sides of ribs to add plane change. Has his own personal mark makings dark lines and “goofieness” around work. Used page space well, composition wise. Pelvic region somewhat confusing.

Karen’s is Small on page. Good connections to the spinal column with ribs, right side looks a little bit larger then left. Hard to do a curve on a straight on back view. Scaling a problem, small pelvis. Light line marks, needs shading to give definition to planes. Bigger on the page solves most of the issues presented.

Mikey Thinks he sucks. Not quite Good values on the sternum and ribs using darker line qualities. Well balanced. Sternum pops out showing depth. Needs connections to the ribs. Good form and anatomy. Very boxy. Good wrap on the ribs, not drawn thru on the back.
No spine.

Cal – Pelvis might be a little big too witde. Right side seems a little bit bigger. Good contour lines that work well with shading. Rib cage looks like a different angle then the pelvis, good spacing between pelvis and rib cage. Line values need a little more consistency. Spine darkens up a little big. Gestural on the pelvis, but not iin the ribs.

Works and such...

I'm a multimedia major here at Stout so the works I've selected come from photography and Graphic Design. Unfortunatly, my cat spilled water on my digital camera so I haven't been able to upload any paintings or drawings I've done...yet. So stay posted and look for more updates.
